When Jesus called Lazarus forth out of that tomb in John chapter 11, as soon as He called him forth He said, “unwrap him and let him go.” Why is this important? Because many believers are still bound up in the thinking and habits of the old sin nature, instead of putting on the new man we have become in Christ! If you are in Christ, you have not only been brought back from the dead into a brand new life, you have been unwrapped and transitioned into a new kingdom!
You may be looking at healing as something phenomenal and beyond your reach. Two of the 12 spies looked at the giants in the promised land and said, “Don’t fear them, the Lord is with us! We can do this, these giants are nothing to us!” The other spies looked at those same giants with an entirely different perspective, saying, “They’re stronger than us—we’re nothing but grasshoppers in their sight!” Which perspective do you have of healing?
Jesus is our example. He destroyed the works of the devil, and He had power over sickness, disease, lack, oppression and everything else that comes from sin and darkness. You and I today have that same power! It doesn’t matter how long or how difficult the situation is in your life—Jesus lives in you and gave you His authority to change things!
To the religious leader of Jesus’ day healing was easier, even acceptable. To the religious in our day, forgiveness of sin is easier, acceptable. But we can read in God’s Word that Jesus bore away both our diseases AND our sin! The moment you were born again you entered the kingdom of God, where in His eyes, you are completely forgiven and healed. When you begin to say what God says, regardless of how you may be feeling, and allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind to the truth of it, it will become your reality!
Is the Kingdom of God in disorder? Is it confused? Is God nervous? No! The first thing that Jesus said to His disciples after His resurrection was “Peace.” Regardless of the current turmoil, lawlessness and uncertainty we are witnessing in our nation and in the world, the kingdom of God is in order. The kingdom of God is at rest. God is not nervous. He has a wonderful plan that is being worked both in us and through us in the earth!
There is only one way to overcome the pain and torment of your soul, the pain of your sickness and the fear and the torment that is in your mind, and that is to come to the Lord Jesus Christ and give it all to Him. And as you leave it all with Him—trusting Him as your caretaker—His peace will fill your mind and your spirit, soul and body, and raise you to a new level of life and health!
1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us that as new creations in Christ, we have been given the mind of Christ! When we cooperate with the Holy Spirit to renew our minds to God’s Word, we begin to think and respond as Jesus in the earth, instead of like the world does!
I want to encourage you today that in the midst of your battles with whatever you may be facing—mentally, physically or otherwise—you have a covenant of peace with the Father. You are now ONE SPIRIT with the Lord Jesus Christ and are complete in Him! Renewing your mind to your covenant will transform your life and put you into a position where your mind will be at peace, your soul will find comfort, and your body can be completely healed! (Colossians 2:10; 1 Corinthians 6:17)
What you focus on is what will impact your life. When Peter overcame the fear-filled boat by looking at Jesus and acting on His word, Peter walked on water. For a moment he was the happiest man alive—until he diverted his focus back to the wind and waves, and fear regained its dominance over him. Keeping your focus on God’s Word renews your mind and transforms you from faithless to fearless! (Romans 12:1-2)
When King Nebuchadnezzar observed the three Hebrew children in the flames of the fire he threw them into for not bowing to his image, he was shocked to see a fourth man walking in the flames with them (Daniel 3:25). Regardless of the kind of fire you may be in—whether it’s a fire of some type of sickness or disease, or a struggle in your finances—there is another identity in your midst! The Lord Jesus Christ is with you in the midst of every struggle, abiding IN you, operating THROUGH you and working FOR you each and every day! “The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil” (Zephaniah 3:15).
