You could say that whatever you give yourself to will increase. Whatever you put your focus on will multiply. In your life, whatever you pay attention to will grow, and whatever you ignore will diminish. You DO have control over things that would try to control you!
When we cast our cares over to the Lord in a prayer of commitment, our faith must attach to that prayer. We have decided we will NOT carry that care, and we determine to ask God for what we want! This is where the power of your prayer and your relationship with God begins to operate!
We are not designed to continually handle hard struggles, difficulty, shame, lack, stress, anxiety and failures. Jesus said, “Come unto me and I will give you rest for your souls.” Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden light (Matt. 11:28–30), so take Him up on His offer! This is where peace is found!
I’m on the other side of the cross, are you? When you encounter the cross of Christ and come to that place where you can leave every hindrance there, every circumstance and anxiety and every form of sickness and disease—then you’re living on the other side of the cross!
If you can control your thoughts, you can overcome in life. No person, spirit, or circumstance has the right or ability to control your thoughts. Your mind is a prime target for the enemy, but you CAN protect yourself from his attacks. How do you do this? By being vigilant and aware of what you are thinking about, and examining it against what God says. If it doesn’t agree, take it captive and correct it with the Word!
If you find yourself in a difficult situation or a scenario that seems too great for you to overcome, then call to remembrance what God has done for you in the past. When we celebrate those moments remembering what God has done, we are reminded that what He has done before He can do again!
Part of your identification with Christ is understanding how much God loves you. Do you realize that the hairs of your head are counted (Luke 12:7)? That you are inscribed in the palms of God’s hands (Isaiah 49:16)? You’re the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8)! Meditate on these and the many other scriptures that tell you how precious you, His masterpiece of creation, are to Him. God wants YOU to know that HE LOVES YOU!
God is NOT waiting for you to make a mistake so He can put a calamity or sickness on you. It’s the devil who walks around like a roaring lion, seeking who he can devour (1 Peter 5:8)! The devil is the one trying to pervert the Word of God with evil schemes and tricks, trying to convince you that what Jesus has already done for you isn’t enough, or not really for you. Stop listening to him and focus on what God says instead!
When we are aware of our position as seated with Christ in the heavenlies, we are no longer looking upward for help. We direct our words and authority downward toward those “mountains” on earth that are below us. A change of perspective can change our results!
When Peter walked on the water, he may have been surrounded by gale force winds and waves, but it didn’t matter as long as his eyes were focused on Jesus and his mind remained controlled and untroubled. We can only control what we see and what we think. If we live our lives circumstance-driven we will never see the results of faith that we desire!
