The practice of medicine is a blessing of the Lord given to us by God, and I encourage you to pray for your doctor. Pray that he or she would have wisdom in working with you, but remember, we are not to accept the doctors’ report as the final report. Instead, believe the Word of God that proclaims, “By His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
As a young believer I remember watching a popular Christian television broadcast. While I was listening, the show host looked through the television camera and said these words, “there is a young woman out there who has suffered from tremendous back problems, in fact you are in pain right now.”
He proceeded to describe exactly what I was doing at that moment, where I was laying and what I had just said in my heart to the Lord. I was ASTONISHED! As he said these words, it felt as though a warm heat from heaven was coursing through my body.
I KNEW he was talking about me, this was a word of knowledge. God had given him a special revelation about my situation and I began to thank the Lord—the pain was leaving my body!
The gifts of healings, working of miracles, and the word of knowledge are God’s special gifts to us!
What is the key to the prayer offered in faith? Call someone who believes God is healing today, and expect that when you are prayed for God will honor His word!
John Wesley, founder of the Methodists, said, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” Prayer is the God-Man vehicle for carrying out His will.
Our expectation is absolutely key to receiving the healing that God has for us. Expectation toward His Word, expectation of Him as healer, expectation for resolution—an expectation of new life!
When I have a time of need I don’t worry about what I have done wrong, I simply submit myself to God, humbling myself before His great and mighty work, recognizing what He’s done, and acknowledging that I am made righteous by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
When sickness tries to attack me I say, “Devil, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in me! God’s power is in me! Sickness, I command you to leave my body right now!”
James 5:14-15 says, “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.” According to this Scripture, we can ask our pastor or a church leader to anoint us with oil and pray for our healing.
The Bible says that through the name of Jesus we have authority over the devil, sickness, and disease. Therefore, when we pray we use the authority that God gave us through Jesus Christ. We can boldly say, “In the name of Jesus, sickness, you must leave my body!”
With faith come to God in prayer and say, “Lord, in Your Word You said that by Jesus’ stripes I am healed. I believe and I receive my healing from You!”
