The scenarios we create with our words can either draw favor, blessings, goodwill, love, healing, finances, and trust to us…or they can draw anger, hate, fear, anxiety, and death into our lives. Regardless of whether you choose to believe in it or not, life and death truly is in the power of your tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
It doesn’t matter how bad your past is. You might say your sins are as dark as mud, but even a glass of mud will become drinkable if you keep pouring clean, fresh water into it. A field of weeds will produce wheat if you start putting new seeds into the soil!
Scripture tells us in Luke 9:1-2 that “he called his twelve disciples together and he gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” That power and authority was never withdrawn! What an opportunity each one of us has been given!
The Apostle Paul made it clear when he said that we do not receive what God sows, or what others sow—we only receive what we sow, or say, about ourselves. What the Bible says is still true: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21). Our future is as far away as our tongue!
If your life is unhappy and you feel like a loser, you can probably blame it on wrong thoughts that you’ve developed throughout your life. But the message and purpose of God’s Word is to get new thoughts, a new spirit, new power, and a new start! To REPENT means to change—when you change your thinking, you’ll change your world!
God gave each of us an important job, regardless of whether you are a janitor or a Fortune 500 executive. He gave the stay-at-home mom and the preacher the same honor of using His name to go to the world!
In tennis, if you take your eye off the ball you lose sight of the only thing you can control. If you allow yourself to be distracted, defeat is guaranteed. It is vitally important that you make a quality decision to keep your eye on your goal. Celebrate it. Pray about it. Think on it only. Jesus said that whatever you desire, when you pray, believe you receive it and you shall have it!
Many people think God has a huge office and a lot of work to do, and because He’s so busy He has no time for them. They look up at the sky wondering, “What will God do for me? He’s way up there somewhere…” The truth is, God never says “NO!” to you! God’s answer to everyone is YES! He is always reaching out to us! “If you are hungry, come to Me, and I will feed you! If you are thirsty, come to Me and drink! If you are in need, come to Me, open up your heart and give Me your problems!” Why? Because He loves us, and that’s what love does!
No one can put down a son or daughter of God unless that child of God chooses to think lowly of him or herself. Jesus said that if He is lifted up, He will draw all people unto Him. There is only one way to go when you are connected to Him, and that is up! Up in attitude, up in perspective, up in ability, and up in self-dignity!
The choice is ours. If we won’t see and embrace the truth of how God sees us and thinks about us, we’ll be doomed to a life of perceiving ourselves as helpless, weak, and subject to circumstances. That’s called prison, and it’s NOT how God created us to live!
