If your life seems like a twisting highway, remember that a vehicle has two types of glass surfaces. The smallest one is for looking back, and the big windshield is for looking forward. Keep your eyes focused on that one and you’ll successfully navigate whatever road you’re traveling!
You may look at yourself and think, “this is the way I am because this is how I have always been,” but the secret to a new life is as simple as changing the facts. Change the information going in, and you will change the results coming out.
You CAN begin again if you don’t like who you are or the direction you are headed. It takes a quality decision and the ability to throw away the clock and calendar. Don’t look at what might have been, look at what can still be!
God can only go where your feet take Him. He can only touch the people you touch. He sees through your eyes and speaks through your mouth. His words are all-powerful, but for that power to be released they must be spoken through lips of faith!
God gave each of you an important job regardless of your employment status. He gave the preacher AND the stay-at-home parent the same honor of using His name to go to the masses. He puts a value on life that no other religion or philosophy could have imagined. Are you seeing more than your own little world?
Train your thoughts on JESUS! Change your words to what GOD says! The scriptures are clear, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV).
Jesus said “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). He is saying that following His success will make you someone that others want to follow. Men will be caught by your posture, words, peace, and authority in the midst of challenges. That is true leadership!
What is the fight of faith? It is continually directing my mind to think and speak like scripture says, rather than focusing on the circumstances. It’s identifying with God’s ideas more than my own, and holding onto HIS Word when outward appearances look otherwise!
We need to put God’s Word in our hearts, because His Word is His will for us. Once you write His Word and His will on your heart it will be a joy for you to pray, because you’ll know when your petition is according to His will!
Jeremiah said to God, “I can’t because I’m too young.” Isaiah said, “I can’t because I am a man of unclean lips.” David said, “I can’t because what are humans before you?” Jesus was different. He said, I am and I can. “I am from my Father and as my Father works so I work” (John 5:17). He has given us a new way of thinking about ourselves!
God never changes but our perception of Him does. You can limit Him to the size of your religion, your problem, or your bank account—OR you can also allow Him to be Almighty God! He is the creator of the universe! Invite Him into your daily decisions. Proverbs 3:5 tells us that when we trust God and acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will direct our paths!
